Sun Valley ski packing list for families

Sun Valley pairs classic Idaho skiing with ice skating, heated pools, and a relaxed small-town feel. The mix of slope days and après fun means packing a little more than just ski gear.

Kristina's notes on Sun Valley Ski

  1. Dollar Mountain is wonderful for little skiers and beginners, while Bald Mountain is for stronger skiers. Many families split the day between the two, so I pack a small bag with a spare layer and snacks for the shuttle between them.
  2. Most people fly into the small airport in Hailey, and winter weather can occasionally divert flights. I keep medicine, pajamas, and a change of clothes for each kid in the carry-on just in case.
  3. Outdoor ice skating at Sun Valley Lodge is a family favorite in any season. Pack warm socks and thin gloves for skating, and a swimsuit for the heated outdoor pools.
