Stowe ski packing list for families

Stowe is classic New England skiing, with a charming village, cold winters, and snow that can change by the hour. Packing for wind and firm snow makes the ski days much more fun for kids.

Kristina's notes on Stowe Ski

  1. Vermont cold comes with wind, especially near the top of Mount Mansfield. I make sure every kid has a face covering that fits under the helmet and toe warmers for the coldest mornings.
  2. Eastern snow can be firm and icy, and flat light is common on cloudy days. A low-light goggle lens helps kids see the terrain, and sharp-edged rentals are worth asking for.
  3. The village is a big part of the trip, with cozy shops, maple treats, and Ben & Jerry's a short drive away. Pack boots that work for walking around town so kids are not stuck in ski boots.
