Zermatt ski trip packing list for families

Zermatt's high slopes, car-free streets and cross-border skiing make packing a little different from other ski trips. This list covers the altitude and logistics details that keep a family ski week running smoothly.

Kristina's notes on Zermatt Ski

  1. Zermatt is car-free, so you'll leave the car in Täsch and take the shuttle train up. Pack in bags you can manage, though many hotels send an electric taxi to meet you at the station.
  2. The altitude is serious here, with lifts climbing toward 13,000 feet. I keep the first day easy, push water, and pack strong sunscreen and lip balm for everyone.
  3. Book ski school and private instructors as soon as your dates are set, especially for holiday weeks. If you plan to ski over to Cervinia in Italy, everyone should carry ID and have the international lift pass.
