Savannah packing list for families

Savannah is a slow, shady city best seen on foot, with humid air and cobblestone riverfront streets. A few small packing choices make the squares and the beach easy with kids.

Kristina's notes on Savannah

  1. The historic district is made for slow walking from square to square, but River Street has steep stairs and old cobblestone ramps. A carrier is easier than a stroller down by the river.
  2. Pack bug spray. The tiny biting gnats locals call no-see-ums can be fierce at dusk, especially in spring and near the marsh.
  3. Book a trolley tour on the first day so little legs get a rest and everyone sees the layout. If you have a Girl Scout, the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is a sweet stop.
