Cinque Terre packing list for families
Cinque Terre is all stairs, trails, and rocky swimming spots, which changes what you bring. Pack for hiking and hauling your own bags, and the villages are a joy with kids.

Kristina's notes on Cinque Terre
- The villages are built on cliffs, so almost everything involves steep stairs. Leave the stroller at home and bring a carrier for little ones, and pack light, because you may be hauling bags up from the train station.
- The coastal trail between villages requires a Cinque Terre Card, and sections close after heavy rain or for repairs. I check the park's trail status the morning of a hike and plan the train or ferry as backup.
- Midday in summer brings big day-tripper crowds. My favorite rhythm is an early hike or swim, a long lunch, and then the villages again in the evening once the tour groups have left.
