Seoul packing list for families

Seoul swings from icy winters to steamy summers, so the right list depends a lot on when you go. A few local details, like hanbok palace visits and the map apps that work there, make it an easy city with kids.

Kristina's notes on Seoul, South Korea

  1. Seoul winters are bitterly cold and windy. From December through February, pack real coats, hats, and gloves, and a long puffer for adults is worth the suitcase space.
  2. Kids love renting hanbok to wear at the palaces, and visitors in hanbok get free entry to Gyeongbokgung. Pack leggings or thin layers to wear underneath in cooler months.
  3. Google Maps has limited walking and driving directions in Korea. Download Naver Map or KakaoMap before you go.
