Greek Isles cruise packing list for families

A Greek Isles cruise mixes hot, hilly port days with breezy evenings at sea. The right hats, shoes, and light layers matter more here than a full suitcase.

Kristina's notes on Greek Isles Cruise

  1. In Santorini, most ships anchor and send guests ashore by tender, then it is a cable car or a long staircase up to Fira. Lines can be long on busy days, so I try to get ashore early or book an excursion that handles the logistics.
  2. The meltemi wind blows hard across the islands in July and August. Hats with a chin strap and a light windbreaker keep kids comfortable on deck and on the tender.
  3. If Athens is on your itinerary, book the earliest Acropolis entry you can. There is very little shade up top, and it gets hot fast by late morning in summer.
