Bhutan packing list for families
Bhutan combines high-altitude hiking, cold mornings, and a respectful dress code for temples and dzongs. Here is how I pack for families, including the Tiger's Nest hike, and which months to aim for.

Kristina's notes on Bhutan
- Visas are arranged in advance through your tour operator, and Bhutan charges a nightly Sustainable Development Fee with reduced rates for children. Check current rules when you plan.
- The Tiger's Nest hike climbs roughly 1,700 feet to about 10,000 feet. Start early, go slowly, and bring real trail shoes. Little ones do best in a carrier.
- Dzongs and temples ask for long sleeves and long pants, and many guides prefer collared shirts. Hats come off inside, so pack a layered outfit that works for both.
